NOTICE - Annual Aircraft Checkout
As of January 1st, 2010, and with the concurrence of our insurance company, we require renter pilots to fly with a CCA instructor at least once per calendar year. You should select the most complex aircraft in which you are qualified- or use this opportunity to checkout in another make/model.
DC ADIZ Becomes Special Flight Rules Area -
On Feb. 17, 2009, the rule converting the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Area ADIZ into the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Area SFRA became effective. Within the SFRA, pilots must file a flight plan, establish two-way radio communications with air traffic control, and operate the aircraft transponder on the transponder code assigned by air traffic. All pilots who operate within 60 nm of the DCA VOR (an additional 30 nm ring outside the SFRA) are required to receive special awareness training, available at FAASafety.gov, or at: www.aopa.org/adizfaa. While the special awareness training is a one-time requirement, FAA strongly recommends that pilots review the online course from time to time.
If you have not yet completed this special awareness training, please do so ASAP and give us a copy of your certificate for your flight school/renter file. thank you.
Garmin GNS-530 & GNS-430's at Chester County Aviation!
Have you taken the AOPA Air Safety Foundation introduction to the Garmin GNS-530W/430W units? This brief course will show you how to set up the communication and navigation sides of the unit. These highly capable Com/Nav/GPS units are installed in Arrow N16566, with the GNS-530W (WAAS capable), Cessna N49142 & Archer N8394C, both with the GNS-430 units and all have current IFR databases. Come check out these units and learn more about GPS WAAS navigation.
Want to Own Your Own Aircraft?
We have aircraft available for sale and we have leaseback opportunities for the right aircraft in the flight school. Contact us for more information. We encourage you to visit our Aircraft Sales page for aircraft available right here at MQS
The LSA Is Coming! - Cessna Skycatcher Light Sport Aircraft coming to CCA (eventually) We regret to announce that our confirmed order for a Cessna 162 - Skycatcher, scheduled for delivery in the 2nd Quarter of 2010 has been pushed back by Cessna Aircraft Company for six to 10 months. We have been told we will have an updated delivery schedule on or about April 1st. Cessna has announced that they must accomplish some re-tooling at the factory where the C-162 is being built, before they can continue deliveries. We will provide more updates as we receive them.
Cirrus Owners - We now have a CSIP Instructor available for your recurrency/refresher training. Contact Steve at the Flight School for more information
Chester County Aviation offers mult-engine training in a 1979 Piper Seminole. For training, the Seminole, combined with the King Schools Computer Based Instruction program, will make you a safe and competent multi-engine pilot.
Already Multi-Engine Rated? This aircraft is available for rental with reasonable minimums. Call us today to schedule your aircraft checkout.
Block Time is available for the Seminole. For a minimum account deposit of $1900, the hourly rate reduces from $205 to $190. Contact us for more information.
REMINDER!
The insurance policy for Chester County Aviation rental aircraft has two very important restrictions.
First, the aircraft may not be operated on other than hard surface, paved runways, without a CCA CFI on board.
Second, the aircraft may not be operated outside the Continental United States. Besides the insurance restriction, the aircraft do not have the required FCC radio station license and most likely, you do not have the required FCC operator permit.
ATTENTION - - FLIGHT SCHOOL STUDENTS
Effective December 20, 2004, the US Transportation Security Administration implemented specific rules regarding flight training leading to an Airman Certificate or Additional Rating, for both US and foreign students/pilots.
- - For US Citizens:
Effective December 20, 2004, you must provide proof of US Citizenship prior to any flight training, defined as training which can be used toward a new certificate or rating. You will receive a logbook endorsement verifying your citizenship. Reference: 49 CFR 1552.3(i)(iv)
- - For Non-US Citizens:
If you are a Resident Alien, please speak with the Chief Flight Instructor and then go to: www.flightschoolcandidates.gov and follow the instructions to register. Reference: 49 CFR 1552.3(i)(iv)
If you are not a Resident Alien and seek Vocational Training under an M-1 Visa, you must train at an FAA Designated Part 141 flight School, and we cannot train you at Chester County Aviation
